LOREN
I am a tattoo artist at SpellBound Tattoo. I specialize in traditional and neotraditional work, and I have been tattooing since 2004.
A tattoo is permanent artwork created by placing ink into the dermis (the second layer of skin) using a tattoo machine. Because the ink sits below the surface layer of skin, it does not wash off and is considered permanent.

Before booking, review the available artist portfolios.
Look through each artist’s portfolio on our website or social media
Make sure the artist regularly tattoos the style you want
Pay attention to line quality, shading consistency, and color saturation
Check healed work when available
Each artist has a unique style and specialty. Choosing an artist whose portfolio aligns with your vision will give you the best result.
Size directly affects detail and longevity.
Small tattoos = less detail
Fine line designs may blur over time if too small
Larger tattoos age better and hold detail longer
If you’re unsure, your artist will guide you toward a size that works best for the design and placement.
Our artists specialize in different styles, including:
American Traditional
Black & Grey
Fine Line
Script / Lettering
Color work
Custom designs
Please review the artist’s portfolio before booking to ensure the style matches what you're looking for.
Proper aftercare is critical to how your tattoo heals and looks long-term.
How long does a tattoo take to heal?
Surface healing: 2–3 weeks
Full internal healing: 4–6 weeks
You may experience:
Redness
Peeling
Itching
Light flaking
This is normal.
Standard Aftercare (No Second Skin)
Day 1:
Leave bandage on as directed by your artist.
Remove bandage.
Gently wash with fragrance-free antibacterial soap.
Pat dry with a clean paper towel.
Apply a very thin layer of recommended ointment.
Days 2–5:
Wash 2–3 times daily.
Apply a thin layer of ointment (do not oversaturate).
After Peeling Begins:
Switch to fragrance-free lotion.
Apply lightly as needed.
Do NOT pick, scratch, or peel.
If your artist applies second skin:
First Bandage:
Leave on for 3–5 days unless instructed otherwise.
Fluid buildup underneath is normal (plasma + ink).
If the bandage:
Leaks
Peels off early
Gets compromised
Remove it immediately, wash the tattoo, and follow standard aftercare.
Removing Second Skin:
Remove in the shower under warm water.
Peel slowly downward (not straight up).
Wash gently after removal.
Switch to fragrance-free lotion.
Continue normal aftercare for the remainder of healing.
Do NOT:
Reapply second skin unless instructed.
Submerge in water while wearing it.
Pick at the adhesive.
For 2–3 weeks avoid:
Swimming (pools, lakes, hot tubs)
Direct sun exposure
Tanning beds
Tight clothing rubbing the tattoo
Picking or scratching
Some tattoos may require a touch-up after healing. Touch-up policies vary by artist. Following proper aftercare greatly reduces the chance of needing one.
Some areas like hands and finger may fall out more often.
Consult your artist before using any numbing products. Some products can affect skin texture and ink retention.
Walk-ins are always welcome, and we offer free consultations.
